The parish is in an area called the Barony of Forth, which
still has vestiges of the old Yola dialect. The northern part
of the parish is very fertile and produces excellent crops.
The south is more windswept as it borders the Atlantic Ocean.
Kilmore Quay is a very modern busy fishing port with a marina.
South of this port are the Saltee Islands, home to a variety
of sea birds.
The lower map shows how the parish is divided. By clicking
on the various churches, monasteries or castles you will get
further information.
