  • Parish Journal

Kilmore Parish has the rather unique distinction of producing a Parish Journal every year. This began over thirty years ago in 1972.

As well as featuring historical accounts of various institutions in the parish, each issue covers all the relevant happenings of the previous year. Many items in this Parish Web site have been adapted from many editions of the Parish Journal.

    Tomhaggard
    - A Sacred Place

This 120-page book was published by the Tomhaggard Heritage Group in 2002.

It features articles on the history of the area, notable people down through the years, the curates since 1810, and lists of the residents in 1911 and 2002, along with the full list of inscriptions on the gravestones in Tomhaggard Cemetery.

I can think of no place in ireland where Catholic continuity is so clearly preached.
Within a small compass there are holy wells dedicated to SS Anne and James, the ruins of a medieval church, a Mass Rock, a penal chapel and an early 19th-century church in present use.
If there is any value in irish tenacity to the Faith, Tomhaggard monumentalises it, all the links are in the place. It ought to be treble-starred in the guide books and written in letters of gold on the maps.

    Tomhaggard - A Sacred Place

    The Parish of Mulrankin
    Ancient and Modern

Following the success of Tomhaggard - a Sacred Place, the popular history of Mulrankin-Bridgetwon is selling fast. A very limited number o books remains. Copies of the 196-page book, published this year by the Mulrankin-Tomhaggard Parish Council, are available from Bridgeown Post Office, Tomhaggard Post Office and Fr Danny, for the modest sum of €10.00.
